MechSN Has a New Name

Why the Name Change?

MechSN started out of frustration with the state of Australian manufacturing and aftermarket parts. Adapter kits, alternator flip kits, pedal brackets, floor pan covers — most were either non-existent locally or not built to a good standard. Parts were failing because they were designed by people who didn't understand the engineering: alignment tolerances, shaft materials, fatigue life, why moving components from their factory geometry causes problems. And although not everyone can manufacture their own parts, most people can learn CAD and draw a simple bracket, or send a photo of a sketch — but there was nowhere convenient in Australia to actually get it made.

The name "MechSN" stood for Mechanical S-N — the S-N curve, also known as the Wohler curve, is the fundamental diagram in fatigue engineering that relates stress amplitude to the number of cycles until failure. It was a name rooted in the problem that started the whole business: parts failing because nobody bothered to engineer them properly.

That frustration led to a university thesis that dug into the real failure modes, prototypes tested on real vehicles, and eventually a small business — MechSN — selling quality adapters and 3D scans to the Australian 4x4 community.

JDL Innovations is bigger than MechSN alone. It's the combination of MechSN's engineering-first approach with an established family manufacturing business — over 25 years of experience in the industry, building custom-engineered systems for oil & gas, mining, and heavy industry. The established business brought decades of experience and the production capability to back it up. MechSN brought the product engineering, 3D scanning, and online technology. Together as a joined team, the result is something neither side could have built on its own.

What's New

The rebrand isn't just a name change. Here's what's different:

We've moved to 45 Cerina Circuit, Jimboomba QLD 4280 — a larger, purpose-built workshop that gives us the space and power to handle significantly more work. This is a permanent home designed for growth.

What started as adapter kits and 3D scans has grown into a full manufacturing operation:

The Bigger Picture
